FAQs

How long might the evaluation take?  Between 5-10 hours, depending on the individual. The evaluation can be completed in multiple sessions.

When do I email the completed forms?  At least two days before the scheduled evaluation. [email protected]

How do I get the forms?  Links for each form were emailed when you scheduled the evaluation. Please email if you need the links - happy to re-send. [email protected]

If the child/adult client is currently taking medication for emotional/behavioral concerns, should they take the medication the day of the evaluation?  Yes.

Why? If medication is being taken for emotional/behavioral concerns, the child/adult client needs to take the medication as usual on the day of the evaluation. This is so the emotional or behavioral condition can then be separated from any learning concerns.

Should I stay for the evaluation? No. For the most effective evaluation, it is best not to stay while your child is working with Ms. Key.

What happens after the evaluation?  The recommendation and feedback meeting.

What happens at the recommendation and feedback meeting?  We will discuss:

  • The evaluation process

  • Written report and results

  • Graphic representation of the results

  • Recommendations for home and school/work and (if applicable) diagnosis

  • Self-advocacy goals

  • Strategies to capitalize on strengths to improve weaknesses

What is a written report? A signed, official document with test results, observations, and specific recommendations for home and school. If appropriate, a diagnosis is included in the written report. Parents/guardians or adult client will receive a paper and electronic copy.

When (and where) will I get the written report?   Approximately three weeks after the evaluation; at the recommendation and feedback meeting.

What is the confidentiality & privacy policy? Who else receives a copy of the written report?  The relationship between a client and an educational diagnostician is a protected one. Information (including the written report) cannot be disclosed without written consent from the parents /guardians or adult client.
